Cradle of Ideas!


iGEM- International Genetically Engineered Machine is the biggest worldwide synthetic biology competition originating from MIT, Boston since 2004.

Synthetic biology is a novel, rapidly developing interdisciplinary science with tremendous potential in various applications including medicine, food and energy industries.

The iGEM competition combines experiment, design, prototype modelling to develop innovations and tackle the current days global challenges. This year more than 322 student- driven teams from 40+ countries will participate in iGEM competition, with Aalto-Helsinki team, the only team representing Finland since 2014.
