--------------------------------------------
Ethnologia Fennica Vol. 48, Issue 1 (Spring 2021): Theme volume Ethnology and Policy-Making. Call for Articles
--------------------------------------------
The theme of the Ethnologia Fennica Spring 2021 issue is Ethnology and
Policy-Making. Today, all scientific research must make an impact beyond
academia. Research projects are expected to produce knowledge in
concrete forms such as policy recommendations. This can be a challenge
for qualitative humanistic fields such as ethnology, which is interested
in individual experiences. On the other hand, the emphasis on personal
experiences also acknowledges diversity and multiple voices. Based on
ethnological research, researchers can make suggestions for more humane
and inclusive policy-making practices.

The Spring 2021 issue of Ethnologia Fennica calls for articles that
discuss ethnology and policy-making from various perspectives. How can
research results be used in policy-making? What kinds of research are we
expected to produce? What could policy-relevant research be in ethnology
and related disciplines? We welcome texts that scrutinize the processes
of decision-making, the ways in which research can be used in
policy-making, cases in which research is expected to produce knowledge
of specific social issues, and analysis of collaboration with different
interest groups that participate in or are excluded from decision-making
processes. We also encourage texts that engage with research funding and
its political agendas.

Please note that in every issue we also publish articles outside the
theme, and you can submit your manuscript at any time. All article
submissions from European Ethnology and related fields are welcome.
