“Changing conceptions of certainty and uncertainty in science”

Public lecture by Ilkka Niiniluoto, professor emeritus of theoretical philosophy and former rector of the University of Helsinki,
in conclusion to a two-day workshop on dealing with medical uncertainty in medical training.
Starting from the perspective of philosophy of science, Prof. Niiniluoto will focus on the constant controversy between certainty and uncertainty in science, which goes back to antiquity. He will connect this general view upon this still relevant discussion to nineteenth-century medicine in particular.

After the lecture, The National Committee of History of Science and Technology is happy to welcome you to a small reception!
