Historian ja kulttuuriperinnön tohtoriohjelma järjestää jatko-opiskelijoiden
kesäkoulun 25.–27.8.2015 Kulttuurikeskus Sofiassa Vuosaaressa.

Kesäkoulu on tarkoitettu väitöskirjatyönsä eri vaiheissa oleville
jatko-opiskelijoille ja post doc -vaiheen alussa oleville. Kesäkoulussa
historian, kulttuurin ja kulttuuriperinnön tutkimuksen monitieteisiä ja
tieteidenvälisiä kysymyksiä lähestytään metodologisesti ja temaattisesti.

Kesäkoulu koostuu yleisöluennoista ja työryhmätyöskentelystä sekä
ennakkoon luettavasta materiaalista. Työryhmissä käsitellään kunkin
jatko-opiskelijan etukäteen toimitettua työpaperia.
Kesäkoulun yleisöluennot pitävät professori Ludmilla Jordanova (Durham
University) ja professori Mieke Bal (ASCA, University of Amsterdam),
www.miekebal.org. He sekä sekä tohtoriohjelman ohjaajat osallistuvat
työryhmien työskentelyyn.

Ilmoittautumiseen liitetään lyhyt abstrakti.  Abstrakti kirjoitetaan samalla
kielellä kuin työpaperikin (englanniksi tai suomeksi /ruotsiksi). Kesäkouluun
hyväksymisestä ilmoitetaan 25.6. mennessä.

Osallistujien edellytetään osallistuvan koko kesäkouluun ja lähettävän
etukäteen, 4.8. mennessä, korkeintaan 10 sivun työpaperin (Times New Roman,
12 pt, riviväli 1.5), jossa nostaa esiin kysymyksen tai asian, joka on tällä
hetkellä ajankohtaisin väitöskirjatyössä. Kysymykset voivat olla
metodologisia, temaattisia, aineiston analyysiin liittyviä tai
käsittelylukujen osia. Lisäksi mukaan tulee liittää työn dispositio ja
lyhyt (max. 1 sivun) selostus työn nykyisestä vaiheesta.

Työpajaan osallistuvat jaetaan etukäteen 6-8 hengen työryhmiin, joita
vetävät johtoryhmän jäsenet. Vierailevat opettajat osallistuvat ryhmien
työskentelyyn papereiden kommentaattoreina. Osallistujien edellytetään
lukevan etukäteen oman ryhmänsä jäsenten työpaperit ja valmistautuvan
kommentoimaan niitä.

Kesäkouluun mahtuu 40 jatko-opiskelijaa. Mikäli ilmoittautuneita on enemmän
kuin työpajaan mahtuu, etusija on Historian ja kulttuuriperinnön
tohtoriohjelman jatko-opiskelijoilla.

History and Cultural Heritage Summer School

The doctoral programme for History and Cultural Heritage organizes a summer
school for doctoral students and early-career post docs on 25-27 August 2015.

The summer school, Culture Centre Sofia, is meant for doctoral students in all
stages of their research and it will focus on interdisciplinary and
multidisciplinary questions in the areas of history, culture, and cultural
heritage from methodological and thematic angles.

The summer school consists of lectures and working in groups, and reading
pre-assigned materials. Each participating doctoral student should provide a
working paper beforehand to be discussed in the work groups.
The lecturers include professor Ludmilla Jordanova (Durham University) and
professor Mieke Bal (ASCA, the University of Amsterdam), www.miekebal.org.

You are required to include a short abstract of your proposed working paper when
you enroll (max. 2 000 characters). You will be notified of acceptance by 25
June.

Participants should hand in a working paper by 4 August. The working paper
should be no more than 10 pages long (Times New Roman, 12 pt, spacing 1.5) and
present a topic or a question that is the most relevant for you at the moment in
your dissertation work. The questions can be methodological, thematic, related
to the analysis of your materials, or parts of dissertation chapters. In
addition, you should enclose a dissertation disposition and a short (max 1 page)
description of the current stage of your project. Participants are expected to
take part in the summer school all of the days.

Participants will be divided into working groups of 6-8 doctoral students,
chaired by members of the doctoral programme’s steering committee. The
visiting lecturers will participate in the work groups as commentators. All
participants are expected to read the papers of their own working group
beforehand and to be prepared to comment on the papers.

There are spaces for 40 doctoral students in the summer school. If there are
more doctoral students than can be accepted, priority will be given to students
of the doctoral programme for history and cultural heritage.
