[Dino] Crowdfunding: German book project about contemporary Greenland

Dear DINO-members, 

I would like to draw your attention to a forthcoming book about
contemporary Greenland. The book is written in German and thus for the
first time conveying transdisciplinary scholarly knowledge about
Greenland to a broader German-speaking public. It will come out at
Budrich UniPress in spring 2016. The title is "Grönland - Kontinuitäten
und Brüche im Leben der Menschen in der Arktis". 

Editor Frank Sowa is currently trying to refinance the book project by
crowdfunding. You can support the project by e.g. donating a minor
amount of money (EUR 8,00) or by preordering the book at a reduced price
(EUR 33,00). How about giving your University libraries a hint? It would
be highly appreciated!

Abstract:
Greenland is on its way to become a small Nordic nation. With the
implementation of self-government (Selvstyre) in 2009, Greenlandic
elites continued the process of gradual independence from the Kingdom of
Denmark, a development that had begun in the early 1970s, when a "more
Greenlandic Greenland" was demanded by Greenland students who did not
want to be "Northern Danes". This development has been accompanied by
rapid social and cultural changes. Against this background, the book
project aims to explore life in present Greenland and to find answers to
the question of what is constant in the life of the Greenlandic people
and what is subject to re-interpretations and changes.
