Hello,
in next week's journal club (30.5.2019 ~09:05, in 2nd floor meeting
room), I will present following advance publication:
Lee, M., Han, S. W. & Seok, J. Prediction of survival risks with
adjusted gene expression through risk-gene networks. /Bioinformatics/
https://academic.oup.com/bioinformatics/advance-article/doi/10.1093/bioinformatics/btz399/5490203
<https://doi.org/10.1093/bioinformatics/btz399>
A couple of points of interest
* includes nice overview of traditional Cox-LASSO survival with variable
selection
* recursive network construction by neighborhood search was a news
concept to be and I thought it was quite interesting on its own
* "data adjustment" sounds weird, but in practice the authors propose to
project the data to simpler linear model structure induced by the
network, which at least conceptually sounds surprisingly similar but
maybe numerically simpler than Bayesian projective inference variable
selection which according Piironen, Paasiniemi and Vehtari 2018
https://arxiv.org/abs/1810.02406 works well for prediction and feature
selection
- best,
Aaro
