CALL FOR ARTICLES: Bekos – Learning and Teaching Ancient Languages, 2, 2027
Bekos – Learning and Teaching Ancient Languages<https://journals.uio.no/Bekos/index> is an open-access, peer-reviewed, online journal dedicated to the learning and teaching of ancient languages. While it has a special focus on Ancient Greek and Latin, it welcomes contributions on the learning and teaching of any ancient language.
The journal’s first volume (2026) is forthcoming and we are now issuing a call for its second volume, to be published in 2027.
Bekos welcomes contributions on all aspects of the practice and theory of learning and teaching ancient languages, with a special attention to school and university context.
Potential topics include (but are not limited to):
* language learning approaches, methods and techniques
* application of insights and theory from Second/Third Language Acquisition
* empirical studies of current methods and practices
* outlines of teaching practices in individual countries
* textbooks and digital tools
* history of the teaching and learning of ancient languages
The main aim of the journal is to bring in contact different learning and teaching methods, specific to national traditions, teaching contexts and language specificity, and to stimulate methodological debates and foster a fruitful exchange of theoretical insights and best practices.
Bekos welcomes articles in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish (submissions in other languages may be considered, but authors should contact the editors<https://journals.uio.no/Bekos/about/contact> in advance to discuss the possibility).
Submissions should be uploaded by 20 September 2026 through the journal’s platform: https://journals.uio.no/Bekos/about/submissions
With best wishes,
The Editors,
Federico Aurora | Saulo Delle Donne | Andrea Taddei
