Eckerd College invites applications for the position of Instructor of Classics and Ancient Studies, a one-year renewable contract position beginning September 2019. We seek a broadly trained classicist, ancient historian, or classical archaeologist with an interest in teaching in an innovative, small liberal arts college environment. A Ph.D. in classics or an affiliated field is required.
The candidate will teach five courses per academic year. The candidate must be able to teach elementary, intermediate, and advanced-level Latin and ancient Greek, ancient history, and topical courses in the candidate’s area of interest. Candidates with an area of specialization in ancient medicine or ancient science and technology are particularly welcome. The candidate will also be expected to serve on comprehensive exam committees and to offer independent study courses when necessary. Because of Eckerd’s commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, a firm commitment to rigorous, innovative pedagogy is essential.
Eckerd College, the only independent national liberal arts college in Florida, has a tradition of innovative education and teaching/mentoring excellence. Submit a letter of application, CV, recent teaching evaluations and sample syllabi, graduate transcripts, and contact information for three letters of recommendation to: https://eckerd.hirecentric.com/jobs/153881.html<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feckerd.hirecentric.com%2Fjobs%2F153881.html&data=02%7C01%7Cjyounger%40ku.edu%7C51e4b4edac9f471f8ace08d686e6f13a%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C1%7C636844723789603815&sdata=Bz8ZQ6qtBgv%2BeA1t6mOxnmQBT22q5NOhwg0QSUG9f0g%3D&reserved=0>
