Eva Cantarella (University of Milano)

Sex, Gender, Polis

Professor Cantarella is Professor of Roman Law at the University of  
Milano. She has held distinguished positions in various universities  
in Europe and the United States, including University of Heidelberg,  
University of California, Berkeley, University of Texas, and New York  
University.
Professor Cantarella has published extensively on classical studies  
and jurisprudence in both Italian, French and English.
Her books include Pandora?s Daughters. The role and status of women in  
Greek and Roman antiquity (1986), Secondo natura. La bisessualita nel  
mondo antico (1988), and Les peines des mort en Grèce et Rome (2000).
