Institution providing foreign language education to around 3.500 students
from Hainan and mainland China. Main languages taught are English, Russian,
Korean and Japanese. The College also runs a kindergarten for about 50
children of the college staff and the surrounding community.
The College has been receiving foreign volunteers from overseas on a regular
basis, mainly from the UK, Canada, Russia and the USA.
The College is currently hosting two EU EVS volunteers (one from Finland).
The European volunteers will work together with the College Students
Volunteer Club and the students of the Middle School to set up meetings with
children and youth in villages nearby Wenchang with a view to undertaking
distinct environmental protection activities such as "cleaning your
surrounding" and designing eco-paths in the rural areas and seaside. In
addition, the European volunteers will run English conversation classes with
students of the Midlle School to sensitise them on issues related to
ecological and sustainable development.

Helping Hands for the Under Privileged, India
Helping Hands for the Under Privileged, supports education for the children
whose parents cannot afford their children's education and lack motivation.
This school is the only one in this village and is situated in a backward
area which lacks facilities. Helping Hands for the Under Priviliged,
recognises the participation of volunteers to help them in day to day
activities such as teaching, handicrafts, singing, playing music, organising
some special events or activities for the parents and the community that
lives around the school.
The EVS volunteers get an opportunity to interact with the local community
and this direct contact helps them to understand the different - culture,
social care & environment. Further, it promotes the volunteers to a learning
experience, for their personal and professional developments.

Ooty Children's Home, India
Ooty Children's Home provides holisitc education for impoverished children
with emphasis on environmental preservation.
We feel the EVS volunteers will provide cross cultural experience and Inter
Cultural learning for both themselves and the children. Emphasis is laid on
environmental preservation. Teaching organic farming is part of the
curriculum.
It will depend on the education and expertise of the individual volunteer to
become a sort of role model and/or mentor for the children. The main tasks
of the volunteer will be to assist the staff in the different activities of
the home.

DEJAVATO Foundation, Indonesia
DEJAVATO Foundation promotes varied education and local development
activities in close cooperation with the Argowilis Center, which has a
"Rumah Belajar" (Learning House) with about 200 students from Junior to
Senior High School. It is a free-of-cost semi-formal education programme for
disadvantaged local kids. All teachers are unpaid and volunteers. One of the
main pedagogical methods is to bring the kids close to nature, and teach
them how to preserve the local environment and culture. The school starts at
07.15 am until 1.30 pm. After school, usually students will have extra
lesson like organic gardening, vegetables planting, scouting, making
handicrafts etc.
The general role of the EVS volunteer is to share experiences, skills,
interact and motivate the local volunteers / students and the local
community in further developing its own activities. We hope that this living
and working together will bring about mutual understanding and support.
The main tasks of the EVS volunteer will be to work along side the project
supervisors and the local volunteers to carry out existing and initiate new
environmental and cultural preservation activities. S/he will be also
expected to help the volunteers and students to improve their English and/or
other foreign languages' skills.

Community Conservation/Ecology Programm Chitwan, NEPAL
deprived communities with the help of youths and at the same time it allows
international youths to have cultural immersion. We are happy to be a part
of this program with the EVS project proposal which includes protection of
eco-system as a prominent theme. It offers volunteers basic idea of eco-
system, how to protect it and how to make a well plan to promote the
environmental education in the community level.
The main role of the volunteers will be to participate in community
