A PhD student position (Doctoral Student/Project Researcher)

A doctoral student/project researcher position is open at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, University of Turku. Research group is led by Professor Qiushui He. 

 

The project is a part of the EU IMI2 PERISCOPE project studying immune responses after pertussis vaccination and infection in humans.

 

The position will be initially agreed for the period 15.11.2016 - 31.12.2020 (starting time can be negotiated).

 

A doctoral student should have completed higher university degree (MSc, MD or similar) in a compatible research field (bioscience or medicine). In addition, capability and motivation for PhD studies has to be proven. Background in flow cytometry, ELISA and ELISpot would be desirable but not necessary for the applicant.The applicant is expected to have basic skills in immunology and cell and molecular biology, and the qualification to educate oneself in the field using scientific literature. Previous research experience and publications supporting this project will be of benefit for the applicant as well as appropriate social skills and capability to work as a member of a research team in academic environment. Applications from students with background in bioinformatics, systems biology, or structural biology are also welcome.
