A PHD STUDENT POSITION

Toxin-mediated perturbation of host cell signaling in bacterial infection
A PhD student position is available in the research group of Arto Pulliainen at the Institute
of Biomedicine, University of Turku.

You join an ongoing research project funded by the Academy of Finland and Sigrid
Jusélius Foundation (2015 – 2020). You investigate how bacterial toxins recognize and
enter the human cell and how the toxins manipulate the human cell signaling to ultimately
influence the disease progression. You reach the research goals with a multidisciplinary
approach utilizing molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology, cell biology,
microscopy, functional genomics, proteomics and RNA-Seq. Your project contributes to
the development of new and targeted approaches for the prevention and treatment of
infectious diseases.

To qualify for the position, you need: 1) high motivation level, work morale and
independent initiative, and 2) completed or nearly completed MSc or an equivalent degree.
