Title: Diagnostic technologies - reporters, platforms and reagents

Target audience: Advanced stage biotechnology students, PhD students, The national DIA-NET Doctoral Programme

Description: The theme of this year's course is "Diagnostic technologies - reporters, platforms, and reagents". For the course presenters from both academia and industry have been invited. The emphasis is on timely topics and trends within the field of in vitro diagnostics, aiming to bring the traditional diagnostics closer to the end-user, both physically and time-wise. This is largely done by the search for novel technologies that can be built into simple, inexpensive test platforms, yet providing a performance that equals that of the centralized test units. In addition to new reporter technologies, test principles and readiness for inexpensive compact instrumental solutions, this development will be critically dependent on new materials and liquid handling. Still one critical aspect is the availability of specifically tailored reagents of superior performance both for traditional proven markers as well as for novel analytes of interest. In the future the markers for ear
ly detection and health risk evaluation will enable the progress within preventive medicine.
