Hei kaikki kanssaopiskelijat!

Laitoksella olisi tarjolla seuraavanlainen kurssi: Functional Materials 4 op.
Ensimmäinen luento pidetään 17.3.2009 klo.10:15, paikka SEM1. (Arcanumin 2.kerros).
Luentoajat ovat alustavasti:

Ti  10-12 SEM1
Ke 10-12 SEM1
Kurssi luennoidaan englanniksi ja tästä vastaa professori Carita Kvarnström.

Liitän tähän vielä tarkemman kuvauksen kurssista ja kehoitan kaikkia asiasta kiinnostuneita tarttumaan tähän mahdollisuuteen:

*KEMI5182 Functional Materials/B, 4 op*

*Objectives: *The course is intended to provide an introduction to soft
materials chemistry focusing on functional mainly organic materials.

*Contents: *Chemical and electrochemical method of synthesis of
electronically conducting polymers. The chemical and physical properties
of these compounds and their characterization with different techniques.
Fullerenes and their chemistry, their characterization in liquid and
solid phase. Polymerization of fullerenes and fullerene-metal polymers.
Synthesis, purification and characterization of carbon nanotubes.
Characterization of different allotropic forms of carbon and some
inorganic materials. Presentation of different techniques of
nanostructuring of conducting polymers, fullerenes and carbon nanotube
materials. Examples of applications of the different materials in
optical devices (light emitting diodes, organic solar cells, smart
windows etc), transistors, sensors, medical applications.

*Previous studies: *Course is aimed at 4^th and 5^th year students and
for PhD- students.

*Time: *Spring term, 3rd and 4^th period (2009) and (2010-2011).

*Type:* Advanced studies.

*Teaching methods: *Lectures 30 h (Moodle-course) + seminar 10 h with
students giving presentations and acting as opponents.

*Modes of study: *Written exam, essay.

*Evaluation:* Numerical scale 0-5
