Vuoden 2017 Maantieteen päivien teema on Welcome to Finland? ja sen ympärille eri aluetasoille rakentuu monenlaista. Työryhmiä päiville on tulossa aiheista jotka koskettavat mm. maahanmuuttoa ja ylipäätään liikkuvuutta, muuttuvaa kaupunkitilaa, arktista aluetta, globaalia kehitystä sekä maantieteen että maantieteenkoulutuksen tulevaisuutta. Työryhmissä painotetaan integroivaa otetta ja toivommekin että löydät itsellesi ja aiheellesi sopivan ja mielenkiintoisen työryhmän. Ellet kuitenkaan löydä mielestäsi sopivaa työryhmää, voit lähettää tiivistelmäsi meille joka tapauksessa. Lopullinen työryhmärakenne muodostetaan, kun olemme vastaanottaneet kaikki tiivistelmät.

Deadline for the Call for abstracts of the Annual Meeting of Finnish Geographers - Welcome to Finland? has been postponed to 4. October. Send your abstract to us using the electronic form here<https://maantieteenpaivat2017.wordpress.com/call-for-abstracts/>. The list of sessions can be found through the same link.

I would like to remind you of the Workshop and Networking Day for PhD students Grant & Scientific Writing - Mystery or Practicable Process?, which is organized on the 25. October. This year's Annual Meeting is hosted at University of Turku on 26.10.-27.10.2017. We are also organizing a photo contest during the Annual Meeting. We particularly encourage international geographers based in Finland to attend the meeting and the contest. The theme of this year's Annual Meeting "Welcome to Finland?" touches several timely issues at various spatial scales. There will be sessions which discuss issues such as migration and various mobilities, changing urban space, the Arctic region, global development, as well as the future of geography and geography teaching. Many of the sessions emphasize integrative approaches and we hope that you will find a suitable and interesting session for you and your topic. Should none of the sessions suit your topic, you are welcome to submit your abstract to us anyway. The final session assortment will be adjusted once all abstracts have been received.
