Registration Now Open for the Nordic Theoretical Archaeology Group Conference: Archaeology/Heritage

Open until 11 February 2024!

On 6-9 March 2024 Turku, Finland / Organized by the Department of Archaeology and the Degree Programme in Digital Culture, Landscape and Cultural Heritage at the University of Turku and Turku Museum Centre.

We welcome you to join us at the Nordic TAG Conference in Turku. This year’s conference, themed Archaeology/Heritage, examines the tanglements of archaeological knowledge and heritage in contemporary society. Over 60 papers discuss archaeology’s connection to politics, how identity and non-human animals and plants are handled in archaeology, how modern politics affect the archaeological material and what’s the use of creativity in research. There are two workshops, dealing with archaeological education and expertise and trans-digital experiences in the cultural heritage institutions. Our keynote speaker is Prof. Visa Immonen from the University of Bergen. The conference is in-person.

The conference will be held on 6-9 March in Turku City center and University of Turku campus. Registration fee to the conference is 60€, except for students and PhD students, to whom it’s 40€. The fee includes participation to the conference, coffee break snacks, the welcome reception and the conference party. In order to participate in the workshops, you must register to them with the same registration form as for the conference. Fee for the conference dinner is an additional 82€ and for the excursion additional 40€. Registration will close on 11 February, and the final programme will be distributed during January.
