Associate Professorship in Welfare State History
The Department of History, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications
for a position as an associate professor in welfare state history, with
appointment from July 1, 2017 or soon thereafter.
Applicants are expected to hold a ph.d. in History and to have demonstrated
relevant research and teaching competences . Appointment to Associate Professor
presupposes a completed assistant professorship (or the equivalent). Applicants
are expected to participate actively in the development of the research and
teaching programs at SDU. This includes the desire and ability to work in
interdisciplinary contexts and in larger research projects (Danish and
international). In addition, it is expected that an associate professor takes
the initiative to start new research themes and applications for external
research funding.
The job as an associate professor includes research and teaching at BA and
graduate level in history, such as limited administrative tasks. An associate
professor is expected to make an independent contribution to the development of
both research and teaching both in his field and in history in generality.
Applicants must demonstrate experience with independent planning and execution
of teaching and supervision at the university level.

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be
informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an
interview may be applied.
Appointment to this position may also include teaching obligations in regard
to related degree programmes.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement
between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional
Associations), Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2015 (the
document only exists in Danish).
If the successful applicant has not documented teaching experience corresponding
to assistant professor level, the applicant will be employed on trial for the
first 18 months.

for each publication. For any publication with a co-author, a co-author

Applicants for an associate professorship at the Faculty of Humanities are
requested to submit a teaching portfolio with the application as documentation
for teaching experience as well as supervision qualifications. Please read
