[Gross] bug fix for HEAD (r212) #54

There is a malloc/Free problem in HEAD.
I created an issue #54
(http://code.google.com/p/gross/issues/detail?id=54)

which covers the discovery process.
In short, if there was a timeout in test_tuple and ta was created in
test_tuple, the loop would change ta pointer to next with the result
that later in code Free tries to free NULL pointer.
